Robin Shapiro is a native Californian.  She was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended U.C. Berkeley.  While at Cal, Robin spent her junior year abroad at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel.  After completing her degree at Berkeley under the tutelage of Elmer Bischoff, she returned to Los Angeles.  Robin's first job as an artist was creating home made ceramic tile.  This work funded her one-year trip around the world, exploring such places as India, Indonesia and Thailand. These experiences left a lasting impression on Robin and can be seen throughout her body of work, particularly in collages.  In addition to her studio work, Robin has been teaching art at the Brentwood School since 1989.  She currently resides in Sherman Oaks, CA with her husband Eyal Zuker, a landscape architect, and their two children Daniel and Lila.
